CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. & MRS. QUARLES! They were nominated to receive the 2003 Volunteers of Louisa's "Volunteer Spirit Award" along with many other great volunteers in our community. Out of all the nominees, Mr. and Mrs. Quarles were chosen to win the prestigious "John von Hemert Award" at the VOL's Awards Ceremony held Sunday, April 27, 2003. This special award was established in honor of Reverend John O. von Hemert, who was the rector of St. James Episcopal Church and the founder of the Louisa Resource Council. This award is presented annually to an outstanding community volunteer, in recognition of Reverend von Hemert's "Volunteer Spirit". This year they presented it to them as a couple! And they definitely deserve it! Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Quarles for all you do!

Judge Harkrader came and spoke with the Scouts about their rights and responsibilities as United States
citizens. We also learned a LOT about the U.S. Constitution from him! Thank You Judge Harkrader!!!
